Why Visit France
Plan a holiday in France, a business trip, or just discover
the country driving your hired Motorhome or Campervan, France
is one of the world's leading tourist destinations. If
you have all the time in the world, you may not need to
plan your holiday in France, you can just wander along
at your own leisurely pace, and it will be a wonderful
and varied experience.
One of the largest countries in Western
Europe, France is also the most varied in terms of scenery
and climate. From Brittany to Provence, the Auvergne
, the Loire Valley, the Dordogne or the Alps, Burgundy
to
the Languedoc , Poitou-Charentes or Aquitaine and the
Pyrenees, each region is special, each is a holiday in
itself. It
is also a country with over 2000 miles of beaches and
seashores, plenty of space for even the most demanding
of holidaymakers!
France boasts the most varied natural environment
of any country in Europe; it varies from the lush agricultural
countryside of Normandy and Brittany, or the rolling prairies
of Champagne or Beauce, to Alpine peaks, northern spruce
forests, the dry hinterland of Provence, the steppe-like
plateaux of the Causses, not to mention a very varied coastline
including the North Sea, the Channel, the Atlantic ocean
and the Mediterranean.

France Climate:
The south of France has a warm Mediterranean
climate with hot summers and mild winters. Strong winds,
known as la Mistral, can occur in the Cote d'Azur, Provence
and in the Rhone valley particularly over the winter and
spring. Northern France, including Paris, has a temperate
climate similar to southern England with warm summers,
cold winters and rainfall throughout the year. The western
coast, from the Loire valley to the Pyrenees, is milder
and summer days are generally very hot. During the second
half of July and August most French take their five-week
vacation to the coasts and mountains, and empty cities
tend to shut down accordingly.
