Why Visit Finland
Finland - officially called the Republic of Finland, is

kingdom until it became independent in 1917.
Finland’s
landscapes are a glorious variation on the themes of
forest and water, where the
comforts of modern life are never far away. Yet each region
has its distinct character, from the wilds of Lapland to
the inspiring lakes of the East and the archipelagos of
the South-West. Finland is full of interesting contrasts,
such as the four seasons, the midnight sun and the long
winter nights and the different cultural heritages ot the
Eastern and Western parts of the country.
Special Interest:
Helsinki – The
capital of Finland, together with its neighboring cities
of Espoo and Vantaa, is
the largest urban concentration in the country. Helsinki
tumbles across a bunch of Baltic islands and the outskirts
extend into the surrounding forests and countryside.
Lake
districts - The largest Lake District in Europe
is located in Finland containing small islands, rivers
and canals, interspersed with forests and ridges.
This piece of landscape stretches for hundreds of kilometers in a serene and
beautiful expanse.
Lapland - Finnish Lapland is often described as “the top
of the world”.
There’s something magical about Finnish Lapland.
There’s a great treasure trove of Finnish outdoor
activities and attractions for the whole family.
Bikers take delight in the mountain trails, and water
rafters are challenged by the intricate river system.
There’s even a bit of gold mining if that’s
your thing.

Finland Climate:
The main factor
influencing Finland's climate is the country's geographical
position between the 60th and
70th northern parallels in the Eurasian continent's coastal
zone, which shows characteristics of both a maritime
and a continental climate, depending on the direction
of air flow. The mean temperature in Finland is several
degrees (as much as 10°C in winter) higher than that
of other areas in these latitudes, e.g. Siberia and south
Greenland. The temperature is raised by the Baltic Sea,
inland waters and, above all, by airflows from the Atlantic,
which are warmed by the Gulf Stream.
Finland Cuisine:
Finland
cuisines are counted amongst the popular cuisines of
the world. The contemporary Finnish cuisines combine
the conventional country fare and the stylish continental
food
of the region. While fish and meat are dominant menus
in all sorts of Finnish cuisines, vegetables and mushrooms
are the other major components of the cuisines in this
country. On the whole, the Finnish cuisines are popular
on account of their taste, variety and style of cooking.
