Why Visit Finland
Finland - officially called the Republic of Finland, is a Nordic country located in Northern Europe. It portions out land borders with Sweden to the west, Russia to the east, and Norway to the north. The country is spread over an area of 338,145 square kilometers. Among the members of the European Union, it has got the least amount of population. Previously, Finland was part of the Swedish kingdom until it became independent in 1917.

Finland’s landscapes are a glorious variation on the themes of forest and water, where the comforts of modern life are never far away. Yet each region has its distinct character, from the wilds of Lapland to the inspiring lakes of the East and the archipelagos of the South-West. Finland is full of interesting contrasts, such as the four seasons, the midnight sun and the long winter nights and the different cultural heritages ot the Eastern and Western parts of the country.

Helsinki – The capital of Finland, together with its neighboring cities of Espoo and Vantaa, is the largest urban concentration in the country. Helsinki tumbles across a bunch of Baltic islands and the outskirts extend into the surrounding forests and countryside.

Lake districts - The largest Lake District in Europe is located in Finland containing small islands, rivers and canals, interspersed with forests and ridges. This piece of landscape stretches for hundreds of kilometers in a serene and beautiful expanse.

Lapland - Finnish Lapland is often described as “the top of the world”. There’s something magical about Finnish Lapland. There’s a great treasure trove of Finnish outdoor activities and attractions for the whole family. Bikers take delight in the mountain trails, and water rafters are challenged by the intricate river system. There’s even a bit of gold mining if that’s your thing.

Finland Climate:
The main factor influencing Finland's climate is the country's geographical position between the 60th and 70th northern parallels in the Eurasian continent's coastal zone, which shows characteristics of both a maritime and a continental climate, depending on the direction of air flow. The mean temperature in Finland is several degrees (as much as 10°C in winter) higher than that of other areas in these latitudes, e.g. Siberia and south Greenland. The temperature is raised by the Baltic Sea, inland waters and, above all, by airflows from the Atlantic, which are warmed by the Gulf Stream.

Finland Cuisine:
Finland cuisines are counted amongst the popular cuisines of the world. The contemporary Finnish cuisines combine the conventional country fare and the stylish continental food of the region. While fish and meat are dominant menus in all sorts of Finnish cuisines, vegetables and mushrooms are the other major components of the cuisines in this country. On the whole, the Finnish cuisines are popular on account of their taste, variety and style of cooking. Traveling to Finland would acquaint you with the wonderful cuisine of the country.

Cabbage rolls, Cold smoked fish, Cold smoked perch, Mashed potato, Lihapullat, Smoked ham or beef, Picked herring are some of the well known traditional Finland dishes. In terms of drinks, coffee and milk are the popular in Finland while fresh water from the lakes and ground water is frequently used in the countryside. Among the alcoholic drinks, Glogi, a form of mulled wine, Cloudberry liquor, mead, Pontikka and Sahti are also part of Finland cuisines.
