Why Visit Bulgaria
A picturesque small country called Bulgaria has existed
for more than 13 centuries in Europe, linking East and
West. Bulgaria remembers ancient civilisations and great
people that wrote its turbulent history. Situated in
Southeastern Europe, Bulgaria occupies the northeastern
part of the Balkan Peninsula.
The
Bulgarian Belogradchik Rocks took the lead in D category
caves, rocks and valleys, in the chart for the new 7
world wonders, outstripping the
recent favorite in that category the Devil’s
Town in Serbia.
Bulgaria has been an associated member of
the European Union (EU) since 1992. In 1997 an agreement
was signed with the International Monetary Fund and the
World Bank for economic stabilization and for the carrying
through of economic reforms in the country. A currency
board was introduced. The national monetary unit has been
referred to the EURO. A structural reform is underway aimed
at an economic growth, a functioning market economy and
at paving the way for foreign investments in the country.
Most
of the foreign citizens entering Bulgaria don’t
need visa but they must carry their valid international

The
Bulgarian Lev is pegged to the Euro. 1 EUR = 1.955 BGN.
You may exchange money in banks and in any of the numerous

Bankya -
This is a spa, renowned for its healthy climate. It is
located 17 km west of Sofia, in the northeast slopes of
Lyulin Mountain.The
mineral waters (with temperatures of 34-38C and a flow
of about 50 l per second) are propitious for the
treatment of cardiovascular and rheumatic diseases and
functional diseases of the nervous system. Numerous rest
home facilities, hotels and medical treatment establishments
have been built.
Belchinski
Bani -
This is a spa, located 13 km northwest of the town of
Samokov.The mineral water (temperature of 40-41.5C)
is suitable for treatment of the loco-motor system, of
neurological
dermatological and other diseases. A balneology hospital,
holiday houses, an outdoor swimming pool, and other facilities
have been built in the resort.
Blagoevgrad -
It has been famous for a long time as a spa. It is about
100 km south of Sofia.Its mineral waters have temperature
up to 55C and are beneficial in the treatment of the
loco-motor system, neurological,
dermatological, kidney, urologic and other diseases.
Varna - The largest city on the Bulgarian Black
Sea coast, known as the seaside capital of Bulgaria and
the
queen of the Black Sea. Located by the side of the big
Varna Bay, 134 km north of Bourgas and 469 km from Sofia,
this is the third biggest city in Bulgaria. This lovely
and up-to-date seaside resort has an international airport
and a busy port. West of the city is the Varna Lake,
which is of importance for transport, providing the seaside
connection between the Ports of Varna and Varna-West.
Veliko - Veliko Tarnovo is a town in Veliko Tarnovo municipality,
a center of Veliko Tarnovo municipality and Veliko Tarnovo
Region. Till 1965, the name of the city was Tarnovo,
which is still the most commonly used way of the name
in everyday conversations.
Velingrad -
The greatest wealth of Velingrad are its mineral springs – more
than 70 in number with temperature ranging from 22 to
90C and flow of more than 150 l per second. The catchment
area extends over about 800 sq km. Three thermal zones
have taken shape: Chepino, Ludzhene and Kamenitsa, whereby
half of the water resources come from the Chepino spring.
They are used for the treatment of diseases of the loco-motor
system, neurological, liver, abdominal, dermatological
and other diseases.

and fruits, Bulgarian cuisine is particularly diverse.
Famous for its rich salads required at every meal, Bulgarian
cuisine is also noted for the diversity and quality of
dairy products and the variety of wines and local alcoholic
drinks such as rakia, mastika and menta. Bulgarian cuisine
features also a variety of hot and cold soups, an example
of a cold soup being tarator. There are many different
Bulgarian pastries as well such as banitsa.

alcoholic beverages and the alcohol of choice for some
is Bulgarian wine.
